The short version
CathayGuide is a content website. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not sell personal data. We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which guides are useful, and we use affiliate links that may set a cookie when you click them. That's the whole picture — the detail is below.
What we collect
- Analytics data — aggregated, non-identifying information such as which pages are viewed, approximate region, and device type, so we know what to improve.
- Contact form — if you write to us via the contact page, we receive the name, email and message you submit, used only to reply to you.
- Server logs — standard request logs (IP address, timestamp, page) kept briefly for security and debugging.
We do not collect your payment details, passport information, or any data you enter into third-party sites we link to.
Cookies & affiliate links
When you click an affiliate link (for example to a VPN, eSIM or hotel provider), that provider may set a cookie so they can attribute a resulting purchase to us and pay a commission. This is how the site is funded, at no extra cost to you. These cookies are controlled by the destination provider, not by us.
