Choose your transport by arrival time
Best for visitors arriving before the final service, with manageable luggage and a hotel near a useful station.
Best after public transport closes, in rain, with jet lag, or when the metro requires awkward changes.
Worth considering for a very late first arrival, large groups or travellers who want a fixed pickup plan.

PEK: plan around Dongzhimen, not “downtown”
The Airport Express is simple because its fare is fixed, but Dongzhimen is a transfer point rather than the historic centre. It is a strong fit for hotels around Dongzhimen and Sanlitun; for Wangfujing, Qianmen or a farther neighbourhood, include the final metro or road leg before calling it the fastest option.
PEK airport buses are useful when one of their station routes matches your hotel or onward train. The airport authority has adjusted several routes in 2026, including Beijing West and Beijing Chaoyang railway stations. Treat an old timetable as a starting point only and use the live counter or official bus channel after landing.
International visitors arriving at Terminal 3 can use the Beijing Service counter across from the international-arrivals exit. It can help with transport tickets, payment, communications and tourist information. This makes PEK less stressful for a first China arrival: solve data or payment there before attempting the last leg to the hotel.
Official arrival updates for PEK
Airport Express fare
Beijing’s official subway guidance lists the Capital Airport Express as a fixed ¥25 service. You will usually transfer again after reaching Dongzhimen, so include the final metro or road leg in your hotel calculation.
Check Beijing rail-fare guidance →Airport buses change
Beijing adjusted several PEK shuttle routes in April 2026, including services to Beijing West Railway Station and Beijing Chaoyang Railway Station. Use the official airport-bus platform or a ticket counter for the live route, not an old blog timetable.

Official Beijing guidance has described late services toward Beijing West Railway Station after midnight, but schedules are operational and can change. Save the 24-hour airport-bus hotline (+86 10 64378900) and keep a licensed taxi or DiDi fallback.
