Airport arrival guide · SZX

Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport: your first route into Shenzhen.

From international arrivals to Futian, Nanshan and central Shenzhen, choose a route that still works with your luggage, arrival time and payment setup.

First answer

SZX is a practical Shenzhen gateway with a late Metro Line 11 service. For a Hong Kong-bound itinerary, do not assume you can complete an onward border crossing after a late arrival—plan the actual connection and a Shenzhen overnight fallback.

Choose your transport by arrival time

Public transportMetro Line 11 Airport Express and airport ground transport via the GTC

Best for visitors arriving before the final service, with manageable luggage and a hotel near a useful station.

DiDi or licensed taxiDoor-to-door

Best after public transport closes, in rain, with jet lag, or when the metro requires awkward changes.

Pre-booked transferMeet-and-go option

Worth considering for a very late first arrival, large groups or travellers who want a fixed pickup plan.

SZX: the late-arrival choice is more specific than “take a taxi”

If Metro Line 11 has finished—or your hotel is nowhere near a convenient station—the airport’s night Airport Express buses are a credible middle option. They leave from the Ground Transportation Center (GTC), with tickets and boarding at the service counter beside Gate 17. The Futian night line is published for 22:30–05:00 at ¥25, while other night routes serve Longhua, Nanshan, Bao’an/Xixiang and selected outer districts.

Do not read “night bus” as door-to-door service. Each line has a fixed corridor, intervals can be 20–120 minutes, and the airport says its final night departure can move with the latest arriving flight. If your hotel is outside the listed stops, travelling as a group, or you are carrying a lot of luggage, compare the actual route with a taxi or DiDi before leaving arrivals.

A same-night Hong Kong transfer is a separate trip, not an extension of the Shenzhen city transfer. You still need a confirmed cross-border service, border clearance and enough time after immigration and baggage. When those pieces do not line up, take the Shenzhen hotel night and continue the next morning.

Late-night airport bus

SZX operates designated night Airport Express routes through the GTC. The official page lists the Futian night line at ¥25 from 22:30 to 05:00; it also says the final departure may flex with the latest arriving flight. Buy and board beside GTC Gate 17, then reconfirm the actual route and time on your date.

Hong Kong needs its own plan

The airport has dedicated official pages for Hong Kong and Macao connections, but schedules and border processes are separate from the Shenzhen city transfer. If you land late, book a Shenzhen first night unless you have confirmed that the onward connection works.
